πThis wonderful antique redware apple bank has such a great primitive presence - hand-formed in the shape of an apple with a coin slot at the top and wonderfully worn red surface. Dating to the late 19th to early 20th century, c1880β1910, this little bank has layers of warm red, russet and ochre peek through years of honest wear, giving it loads of character and folk-art appeal. The two-part construction and irregularities in the form only add to its charm. A terrific little piece tucked into a cupboard, added to a collection of early redware, or mixed among other country primitives.
