Dating to approximately c1850–1865, this beautiful American whole-cloth quilt features a striking large-scale floral printed cotton face in wonderfully time-softened shades of coral, rose, cream and warm brown. Measuring 69” × 69”, it is 100% hand stitched and hand quilted, with wonderfully dense quilting throughout. The reverse is just as special - a vibrant deep red cotton scattered with tiny floral sprigs.
Beautifully imperfect and showing the evidence of its incredible age, with one small hole to the front, some age-related staining to the reverse, and the lovely fading and wear that comes from more than a century and a half of history.
