A wonderfully timeworn wooden firkin, estimated to date to c1860–1880, featuring stave construction, four overlapping bentwood hoops, a fitted lid, and a broad wooden swing handle.
Its softly weathered pale sage green painted surface reveals darker green paint beneath, with exposed wood and age-related wear adding depth and character. The warm brown handle offers a beautiful contrast to the muted painted finish. A lovely early country piece for displaying on a cupboard, hearth, or alongside antique baskets and stoneware.
Condition: Wear to the painted surface consistent with age and use. One retaining tab at the handle support is missing; the handle remains steady and secure. Please review the photographs for additional surface details.
Measurements: 9” tall and 9 1/2” in diameter
This charming firkin it’s a perfect addition to any stack or fill with seasonal greens and sprays for a lovely display.
