A wonderfully primitive bentwood grain measure with an overlapping nailed seam, wooden base, and beautifully worn olive green paint. Its simple cylindrical form, textured wood grain, and muted surface make it a lovely addition to an early country collection whether displayed alone or filled with dried seasonal stems.
Estimated age: Mid-to-late 19th century, circa 1880–1900, based on its construction and visible wear. The age of the paint has not been confirmed.
Condition: Wear consistent with age and use, including paint loss, scratches, small splits, scattered holes, and chipping along the rim, particularly near the overlapping seam. The interior shows surface wear consistent with age and use. Please review all photographs for details.
Dimensions: 8 1/2” tall × 9 3/4” in diameter
A charming utilitarian piece with the character and patina of years of use.
