A beautiful Bear’s Paw quilt, dating to approximately the late 19th to early 20th century (it), in a wonderful two-color palette of soft pink print and white. It is hand pieced and beautifully hand quilted, with wonderfully dense, intricate quilting that can really be appreciated on the pale pink reverse. The quilting adds so much texture and dimension to an already striking pattern.
The condition is remarkable for its age. There are no rips, tears or significant stains. Only a few mild age spots and some slight discoloration from use along the edges of the pale pink backing — all consistent with a quilt that has survived well over a century.
Measuring 76” × 77”, it’s a nice size and beautiful displayed on a wall, folded over an early chest or layered across a bed.
