OUR HOME 🏡 This one stopped me in my tracks. An incredible American folk art hooked rug, c1920s–1940s, measuring approximately 34 1/2” × 22 1/2” and beautifully mounted for display.
At the center, the wonderfully naïve “OUR HOME” lettering is surrounded by layer upon layer of hand-hooked color including soft turquoise, mustard, olive green, deep red and inky blue all forming a bold oval medallion. Tiny folk motifs worked into each corner are the perfect finishing detail. Look closely and you can see the beauty of the handwork: irregular loops, subtle shifts in color and texture, and the individual strips of fabric that give early hooked rugs so much character. A fabulous piece of early 20th-century American textile folk art, now fully mounted and ready to hang.
