Wonderful early American oval wallpaper box retaining its beautifully worn original green paper surface. Hand constructed of pasteboard with a fitted lid, applied paper bindings, and a hand-sewn bottom. Old ownership initials, appearing to read “S.S.W.”, remain visible on one side.
The wonderfully untouched surface shows nearly two centuries of natural wear, with fading, rubbing, oxidation and paper loss adding tremendous character.
