An early dome-top box with the most beautiful blue ground and painted floral bouquets in cream, soft red, and deep blue. Delicate borders frame the decoration on both the front and curved lid. A lovely piece of country folk art. 🤎
Estimated to date to the mid-19th century, circa 1840–1870, based on its construction and decorative style.
The painted decoration remains beautifully preserved, with scattered surface wear, small wood losses along the edges, and wear around the keyhole. The hinged lid opens and closes well. Please see the photographs for condition details.
