Wonderful 19th-century wooden firkin retaining beautifully worn blue-green paint and an iron bail handle with wooden grip.
Constructed with a staved wooden body, bentwood bands and fitted lid, this early country piece has a wonderfully untouched surface with authentic wear and paint loss revealing the natural wood beneath. The iron bail handle remains intact and functional, retaining its wonderfully worn wooden grip.
Measurements: 8” H × 8½” diameter at base
Condition: Good antique condition with expected paint loss, surface wear, scratches and oxidation to the iron. Age-related shrinkage and separations to the wooden staves are present, as photographed. Lid and bail handle remain intact.
A fantastic piece of early American country and primitive décor with a particularly desirable muted blue-gray surface.
