Wonderful early American splint gathering basket retaining an old, richly worn brown painted surface. Hand woven with a rectangular form, wrapped rim and tall arched wooden handle. The substantial construction and beautifully aged surface give it wonderful primitive character.

Good antique condition with expected wear, paint loss and scattered breaks and losses to the splints, as photographed. The basket remains structurally intact and displays beautifully.
A great early country basket with a particularly appealing old brown painted surface and generous size.
